Homeschooling - About Us - Hello and welcome to our website. We are Herb, Carol and Matthew Henderson from Fredericksburg, Virginia. Hopefully this page will give you a glimpse into who we are and what we are all about.


This website is our family ministry as well as our business. It was born out of love for our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, our passion for teaching our own children, and our desire to help others achieve success educating their children at home and teaching entrepreneurial skills along the way. Our top priority is to follow the Lord in our personal lives as well as all aspects of our business. After the Lord and family, you are the most important part of this website. We'll treat every visitor/customer the way we would want to be treated.


As a family, we are passionate about homeschooling and entrepreneurship. The two work together well, and we love the family unity. Homeschooling and entrepreneurship allow our family freedom. Freedom to first serve God; freedom to serve you, our subscriber and customer.  


We didn't always home educate, and prior to starting I worked in the financial services industry for 12 years. Herb has always worked in the building industry until being laid off in 2010. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise because now he is able to help with home education a whole lot more. He focuses on music and physical education and goes on all the field trips.
 

Our daughter, Amanda, attended a Christian school for 2 years and then completed her education in public school. She is married and doing her own thing. Matthew attended Christian school for grades 1-5, and we started home education in grade 6. It was difficult at first, but we've never looked back and wouldn't have it any other way. Every bump in the road was worth it, and we would do it again.


The Lord was urging us to homeschool from the very beginning, but we fought His urging and paid the price. A traffic accident, a job transfer for both of us making our commutes an hour instead of 15 minutes, a daughter who got with the wrong crowd in public school, a son in Christian school who started having issuesl; but we still didn't listen. To say we were caught up and blinded by worldly riches is an understatement. We had every excuse not to homeschool, our income would be cut in half and we'd have to give up too much, not qualified to teach, afraid the kids wouldn't have any socialization. Boy, were we wrong! And we're so thankful to the Lord He never gave up on us and continued to urge and prod us until we took action!


Helping others is also a passion of mine, and that is how this website was born. The Bible says when we serve others we serve God. We want to have an impact on the world for Jesus Christ by encouraging others in their homeschooling journey as well as entrepreneurship.  Although our family has been through a lot, we have been blessed; and we have made it our mission to serve the homeschooling community. Our goal is to provide an informational website that will help homeschoolers find what they need or are looking for or to point you in the right direction. We want to help and encourage other homeschoolers and allow you to reap the rewards from the research we have done and continue to do. We want to help you avoid some of the homeschooling mistakes we've made.


Matthew wishes to contribute to this website as well. He is an accomplished musician and plays banjo, mandolin, guitar and fiddle and has taught me how to play the stand-up acoustic bass guitar.


The three of us have a family band and go by the name "The Hendersons". We play Bluegrass Gospel music throughout Virginia and love sharing God's Word through song. We released our first recording entitled "Heaven's Light Is Shining On Me" in 2012. We released our second recording entitled "I Feel Like Going Home" in 2013. Homeschooling - About Us- Nurturing

As a homeschooling mom, entrepreneur, and website administrator, I want to nurture my readers, customers and visitors. We think of nurturing as taking care of a child or an animal, but I consider each and every one of you an important relationship to be nurtured.


The world wide web is huge, and we are just a tiny part of it. You don't know me or my family from Adam. More than likely, we will never meet in person. In an effort to nurture our relationship and provide value, establish credibility and build trust, I'm going to be providing some free reports and resources on different topics homeschoolers and entrepreneurs struggle with.
