Homeschool Curriculum Review - Brimwood Press

History can be fun for kids to learn. There is more to Western civilization than many people realize. If you want to give kids a thorough understanding of it, then try Brimwood Press and their dedication to historical literacy.

The Past can be fun

Learning about the past is not only a key to understanding the present and shaping the future; it is also a way to interest kids in what came before. They can discover how some of the things we have today were first invented. Most ideas are old ideas but without history lessons, no one would know that or cherish where they came from.

Homeschool Curriculum Review - Brimwood Press - What’s Included

Brimwood Press has a mission to educate homeschooled children all about the historical contributions that shaped who we are today in Western civilization. Kids are treated to a visually stimulating curriculum that follows the calendar of events of the past. Through the study of history, children learn vital skills and concepts that can be used throughout their studies and life.

You can even either buy individual products or purchase materials as bundles and sets. Individual products can be used to supplement an existing history curriculum. This can help you to save if you have a small budget. You can teach about various world religions in your history curricula. When you want to use the entire program for your history curriculum, you can purchase materials in bundles or as a set.

Individual products include books from the main categories, Historical Novels for Engaging Thinkers and Tools for Young Historians. The Tools for Young Historians complete kit includes materials to teach kids in the 5th through 8th grade about the timeline of history, worldviews at each point in time and the flow of history throughout the world. When the complete kit is purchased ($199.00), it includes: A Young Historian’s Introduction to Worldview, Lessons on Time, Calendar Quest, Color the Western World, What every Child Needs to Know about Western Civilization, scroll timeline and historical fact sheets. Students also receive a binder organizer. Parents get a free planning guide for preparing lessons.

With the Historical Novels for Engaging Thinkers set your child is introduced to stories of four individuals with different beliefs. They will become acquainted with a Sumerian slave girl, a Jewish young man, a young French servant girl and a young Buddhist man. They express the worldview in ancient, medieval, early modern and modern times. Children are exposed to the belief of monotheism, polytheism, pantheism and naturalism.

All of the products are designed to prompt thoughtful discussion in the classroom and also in family discussions. Other bundles include Western Civilization Study and Conversations Worldview Kit.

The Verdict

For a thorough understanding of Western civilization including different belief systems and worldviews, try the products at Brimwood Press. Bundling can save money unless you only want a few product additions.
