Faith

Faith not only can help you through a crisis, it can help you to approach life after the hard times with a whole new perspective. Faith can help you adopt an outlook of hope and courage to face reality. God is there with us all. We just need to believe in Him.

A Happy Couple Never Does...

Don't whine. Whining is for children, and a whiner gets no sympathy. State with effective communication what the problem is and what sort of help you need to solve this situation. Whining turns people off; you won't get the proper type of attention that you are seeking, and you will just set the tone for a troubled day or evening. Be adult about stating your needs and desires.

Have a blessed day.

Please Pray

I received an email this morning from a friend asking for prayer for the Mike Lablue family. They lost 4 daughters (ages 2-11) in a house fire Wednesday night. Please keep this family in your prayers. Lord, I'm so thankful for how blessed we are. I come to you with hurt for the Lablue family and ask that you touch and comfort them.

Let's stop and see what God has done for us yesterday, and then thank Him for it. Let's take time to talk to our Lord.

Don't martyr yourself. Don't fall into the trap of doing all the work around the house and then lamenting how you have to tend to all the chores and never get any help. Once the work is done you have no leverage; all you can do is whine and complain. If you want to do all of the household duties, then so be it, but don't do them and then try to martyr youself into a revered position.

Have a blessed day and weekend.

Blessings

Notice the finger-painted sunrise God made just for you. Consider the joy, love, comfort, encouragement, and caring God has poured out on you through your friends and family members. Then close your eyes and meditate on the greatest blessing of all-that God loves you. Thank your Father for all of your many blessings. Your love and thanks bless Him in return.

A Happy Couple Never Does...

Don't just view the world from your point of view. As you mature and grow together, you and your spouse will change your thoughts and feelings about the subjects which you actively discussed before you got married. Ask questions; learn how your spouse feels about an issue that you are beginning to think about. Together you can share world events and issues that will facilitate more positive discussions of smaller things you will be talking about at home.

Have a blessed day.

The Joy of the Lord

With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. Joy is much deeper than mere happiness. Happiness is like a brook that can dry up when the sun gets too hot. Joy is like a vast water system that flows directly from the Lord-an unfailing source.

Don't forget to laugh. If you laughed before you were married, you should still be laughing together. Laughter is free, and you cannot be mad if you are laughing. It will ease tension and cause an understanding to develop in your relationship that will be very rewarding.

Accomplishment

We were designed to do great things hand-in-hand with a very great God. So why not invite God to be your co-worker in every endeavor you undertake today? Call on Him throughout the day, anytime you need wisdom, peace, or perseverance. Allow God to infuse you with creativity, humility, and compassion, regardless of the size of the task at hand. Your hard work, guided by prayer and undergirded by the Spirit of a mighty God, can accomplish amazing things.

Don't daydream when your spouse is trying to discuss an important matter. You must be present in the conversation and listen carefully to what is being said. A cordial response that addresses the issue shows that you are actively engaged in this conversation. A spouse should not have to repeat over and over the last sentence that they said. Pay attention and respond!

Have a blessed day.

You're Necessary

Remember, Jesus has given you a significant part to play and will use you to build up His people. The church is a living body containing all the parts-it lives, it moves, it functions, and touches many hearts. When each part is committed to do the Saviour's will, His members are united, His purpose they fulfill. As a member of the body of Christ, you are a necessary part of the whole.

Don't be rude. Good manners and practical ideas can keep you from seeming rude and indifferent to your mate. Continue to open doors, pull out dining chairs, and help your spouse whenever the need arises. Ladies should always go first and men should go behind her in a supportive method. Good manners are always in style and should remain in a relationship to keep respect and honor prevalent.

Have a blessed day.

We're Back

I haven't posted since Friday because we had a wonderful 3 days in the Appalachian Mountains in southern Virginia. We went to visit a good friend and got to play lots of bluegrass and gospel music. I've got some videos recorded; it's just a matter of getting them uploaded to my computer. There is no internet service where we were at so work was left behind. It's good to be back though. Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend.

Humility

Jesus humbled Himself when He agreed to be sacrificed for our sins. The crown Prince of heaven, the Holy Son of God allowed Himself to be beaten and crucified to pay the penalty for our sin. Because He knew exactly who He was, He could choose to humble Himself on our behalf.

Humility is nothing else but a true knowledge and awareness of oneself as one really is.

Don't forget the things that you used to enjoy doing as a couple and begin to add new activities to that list. If you completely abandon the things you did as you dated, then your relationship is heading for stormy waters. These enjoyable events drew you together and caused you to fall in love; don't throw them away after a commitment is made between the two of you.

The Autumn of Life

"What a wonderful time is life's autumn,
when the leaves of the trees are all gold,
When God fills each day as He sends it
with memories priceless and old.
What a treasure house filled with rare jewels
are the blessings of year upon year,
When life has been lived as you've lived it
in a home where God's presence is near.
May the deep meaning surrounding this day,
like the paintbrush of God up above
Touch your life with wonderful blessings,
and fill your heart brimful with His love."

Don't make decisions without consulting your spouse before you make a final commitment to any situation. Check with your partner to see if they are in agreement and support the facts that are causing you to formulate your plan of action. Let them know that you are willing to compromise and that their opinion is of value to you.

Your Speech

Your life is a sermon. What kind of sermon will you preach? The words you choose to speak may have some impact on others, but not nearly as much impact as the life you choose to live. Today, pause to consider the tone, the theme, and the context of our particular sermon, and ask yourself if it's a message that you're proud to deliver.

Let's let our life shine for God, walk it and talk it; God is seeing everything we say and do.

A Happy Couple Never Does

Never lose pride in yourself or your relationship with your partner. Just because you have the golden band that cements your commitment to each other, do not let your appearance deteriorate. You must keep yourself neatly groomed and attractive at all times. You should keep current with the latest trends in styles and colors and present yourself just as you did when you were "on the market." Relationships grow stagnant when one or the other gains an excessive amount of weight or lets their hair and clothing styles become outdated. You should take pride in yourself and your appearance with careful attention to details.

Have a blessed day.

Wait...

The Lord will provide His guiding presence as we wait patiently for Him to bring about His will. Tune your anxious heart to patience; walk by faith where sight is dim; loving God, be calm and trustful and leave everything to Him. Patience means awaiting God's time and trusting God's love.

Don't omit morning greetings. Tell your spouse that you love them and for them to have a nice day before you go to work each day. This will help them battle all the traffic jams, the challenges of work, and their personal struggles with deadlines and stress. Unfortunately, some spouses will be involved in accidents that take their communication abilities or their lives and you will never get another chance to tell them what was on your mind. Never let them leave you without your expression of a sentiment that shows that you really care.

Have a blessed day.

Assurance

Some people believe you can't be certain of your salvation until after you die. But the New Testament is filled with assurances. God's deep desire is for everyone to receive the free gift of salvation; Christ's sacrifice on the cross was sufficient to cover all sin (past, present, future). Any person who is forgiven and cleansed by Christ's blood is heir to eternal life.

God doesn't want you to live your life wondering if you will make it to heaven. He wants you to know He is preparing a place for you. Jesus said to the thief who hung beside Him on the cross, "This day you will be with me in paradise." That day, with his dying breath, a criminal turned to Jesus and received the assurance of his salvation.

The assurance of salvation is one of God's beautiful gifts. Every believer ought to know that he possesses salvation and it cannot be taken from him.

Don't forget to hug your partner. A firm hug and a soft touch can change our moods and brighten our days. Use hugs often to show your love and admiration for your spouse.

What Does Not Change

Unfailing love surrounds those who trust the Lord. Everyday we encounter a multitude of changes-some good, some not so good, some downright disheartening. On those occasions when we must endure devastating personal losses that leave us stunned and seemingly unable to move, there is someone we can turn to for comfort and assurance; we can turn to God. When we do, our loving heavenly Father stands ready to protect us, to comfort us, to guide us, and, in time, to heal us.

Carolann

Don't hold grudges. Grudges only serve to eat away at the person who holds on to unhappy feelings of despair. It is best to forgive and forget and move forward. If you are inwardly unhappy, events and situations tend to build and grow and at the most unexpected time, all of the infections that have festered will boil over and spill right into the middle of an argument or disagreement. Holding a grudge is not a healthy way to handle stress or arguments.

Colossians 3:13 "Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye."

Just Believe

Lord, please help the ones who lost a loved one on 9/11/01. Let's all say a prayer for them and keep it in our hearts. We were all hurt by this, but this morning we can look across our table and see our loved ones; but some cannot say that. They are the ones who hurt this day. May the God of your hope so fill you with joy and peace in believing that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound and be bubbling over with hope.
